If you are a man going through a divorce you are at a disadvantage. Our society seems to favor women in a divorce. Men are usually portrayed as the villain. Our culture usually takes the side of the women. Even though in most marriage break ups are the fault of both parties.Blame tends to fall on the man. Also most people feel that the man has most of the money and should assume most of the financial burden. In this article I will give you some tips how to survive a divorce if you are a man.

First, you must maintain a positive attitude. Letting yourself get depressed and down o yourself is not a good thing. In order to get the outcome you want you must maintain a positive attitude. There may be days that everything may seem to be going wrong. But if you keep a positive frame of mind and work for a positive finish to the divorce you will feel much better and the outcome will be for the better. You want to keep the fighting to a minimum, nothing good results from all that bad blood.

Second, you want to keep a close watch on your money and the family's money. Be aware of all credit cards and joint bank accounts that you have in common with your spouse. Know how how much money and credit you share. Doing this does not make you sneaky, because any good attorney she may have is telling her to do the same thing. If you want to end the marriage in a relatively harmonious fashion. Also you want to protect some financial security for yourself.

Third, you want to lessen the income between you and your spouse. If your spouse doesn't work you want to help her get back into the work force. You may want your accountant to evaluate her work skills and talents. You will need to show that what she can earn and what you earn may not be that different. You want to present evidence that what you earn doesn't have to be her only form of support. The sooner you get those numbers worked out the better it will be for you. You do not want to set standards for her that the court will feel it is necessary for you to maintain.

Lastly, getting divorced is never easy and feelings of guilt get in the way. But this is not the time nor the place for you to let your guard down and give into things you may regret for years in the future.
