Rachel Weisz and Darren Aronofsky end nine–year relationship

The ex-couple is still on amicable terms and plans to get a joint custody of their 4-year-old son, Henry Chance. Rachel Weisz has parted ways with Darren Aronofsky, her partner of nine years. The actress and her director beau “have been separated for a few months,” their reps confirmed to TMZ.com.

“They remain close friends and are committed to raising their son together in NYC,” said their reps. Weisz has recently been reported to be getting closer to Daniel Craig, while the two were working on the film DreamHouse earlier this year.

Strongly committed, but never married
Weisz, who has starred in films such as ‘The Mummy,’ ‘The Fountain,’ and ‘The Constant Gardener,’ had been dating Aronofsky, the director of movies like ‘Requiem for a Dream’ and ‘The Wrestler,’ since 2001. The two got engaged in 2005, and also had a son, but they just never agreed to tie the knot. The actress has long been open about her apprehension towards marriage vows, but just recently she had been feeling like it.

“Funnily enough, just recently I suddenly felt like I really would like to get married,” Weisz said last January, when she had made an appearance on ‘The View’. “It's just a feeling. I know it's a funny thing.” Though no official marriage ever took place, Weisz and Aronofsky were committed “until death do us part,” she had gushed to Redbook last year. But things for the couple did not go out as planned.

Weisz and Daniel Craig? Is something cooking?
Weisz has recently been reported to be getting closer to Daniel Craig, while the two were working on the film Dream House earlier this year.

However, no romantic link-up has been confirmed from wither side as yet. She and Aronofsky had worked together on 2005's sci-fi flick ‘The Fountain,’ and had been planning to reunite for working on a biopic of Jackie Kennedy. But like their relationship, it seems, the project too got dumped as it is no longer is listed on their IMDb credits. Meanwhile, Aronofsky is busy with his other projects. His upcoming film ‘Black Swan’ opened the 2010 Venice Film Festival in September; it was highly praised by the critics, particularly for star Natalie Portman.
